OPERATIONAL CHALLENGES • The attorneys have very high caseloads and their services are in high demand. It is often difficult to determine what issues warrant priority over others while meeting all necessary deadlines . • Retention and hiring is difficult as our current salary ranges are not competitive with the private sector or other government entities. • While we have modernized the processes in our department, we are continuously educating our clients on how to properly utilize our services. 4. TOP 3 OPERATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS FROM FY 2019 • Ongoing collections of delinquent accounts receivables or other moneys owed to the County totaling $450,111 .37 in cash payments. Resolution of two complex litigation cases resulting in the award of $125 ,000 and $122,275.34. Total cash received due to Office of the County Attorney efforts is $697,386.71. • Continuous support of all County departments within the limits of our resources. • Continued to provide advice regarding the County's compliance with the Endangered Species Act and the Kauai Seabird Habitat Conservation Plan.
