PLANNING COMMITTEE
June 24, 2015
A meeting of the Planning Committee of the County of Kauai, State of
Hawaii, was called to order by Mason K. Chock, Chair, at the Council Chambers,
4396 Rice Street, Suite 201, Lihu`e, Kauai, on Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at
9:46 a.m., after which the following members answered the call of the roll:
Honorable Gary L. Hooser
Honorable Ross Kagawa
Honorable KipuKai Kuali`i
Honorable Mason K. Chock
Honorable JoAnn A. Yukimura, Ex-Officio Member
Honorable Mel Rapozo, Ex-Officio Member
Recused: Honorable Arryl Kaneshiro (on. Bill No. 2576, Draft 1)
Minutes of the May 13, 2015 Planning Committee Meeting.
Upon motion duly made by Councilmember Kuali`i, seconded by
Councilmember Kaneshiro, and unanimously carried, the Minutes of the
May 13, 2015 Planning Committee Meeting was approved.
Minutes of the June 10, 2015 Planning Committee Meeting.
Upon motion duly made by Councilmember Kuali`i, seconded by
Councilmember Kaneshiro, and unanimously carried, the Minutes of the
May 13, 2015 Planning Committee Meeting was approved.
The Committee proceeded on its agenda items, as shown in the following
Committee Reports, which are incorporated herein by reference:
CR-PL 2015-13: on Bill No. 2576, Draft 1 A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE
ESTABLISHING REGULATIONS,
PROCEDURES, ZONING,
DEVELOPMENT PLANS, AND
FUTURE GROWTH AREAS FOR
THE SOUTH KAUAI PLANNING
DISTRICT, AND ESTABLISHING
EXCEPTIONS, MODIFICATIONS,
AND ADDITIONS TO CHAPTER 8
AND CHAPTER 9, KAUAI COUNTY
CODE 1987, AS AMENDED
(Approved Bill No. 2576, Draft 1
with amendments made to the
South Kaua`i Community Plan
Booklet (currently dated 2014) as
referenced in Bill No. 2576,
Draft 1.)

There being no objections, the meeting recessed at 12:20 p.m.
The meeting was called back to order at 2:27 p.m., and proceeded as follows:
CR-PL 2015-14: on PL 2015-01 Communication (05/07/2015) from
Council Chair Rapozo, requesting the
presence of the Planning Director and
the County Attorney, to explain the
process that occurs before and after
the Public Access, Open Space,
Natural Resources Preservation Fund
Commission selects properties for
acquisition, including a detailed
summary of the Commission's current
priorities; and the Eminent Domain
process, and how it relates to the
Commission's process and the
acquisition of properties. (Received
for the Record.)
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 4:29 p.m.
