HomeMy WebLinkAbout 01/22/2015 Public Works/Parks & Recreation Committee minutes MINUTES PUBLIC WORKS / PARKS & RECREATION COMMITTEE January 22, 2015 A meeting of the Public Works / Parks & Recreation Committee of the Council of the County of Kaua`i, State of Hawai`i, was called to order by Arryl Kaneshiro, Vice Chair, at the Council Chambers, 4396 Rice Street, Suite 201, Lihu`e, Kaua`i, on Wednesday, January 22, 2015, at 9:03 a.m., after which the following members answered the call of the roll: Honorable Mason K. Chock Honorable Arryl Kaneshiro Honorable KipuKai Kuali`i Honorable Gary L. Hooser, Ex-Officio Member Honorable Mel Rapozo, Ex-Officio Member Not Present: Honorable JoAnn A. Yukimura Excused: Honorable Ross Kagawa The Committee proceeded on its agenda item, as follows: Councilmember Kaneshiro: In all fairness to Committee Chair Kagawa who introduced this Bill, I would like to entertain the Committee members, if they would consider deferring this item so he can be present to participate in the discussion. It would be deferred for two (2) weeks and will be back on the Committee Meeting for February 4th. However, I would like to take public testimony on the Bill today before we entertain any motion to defer. With that, Clerk, could you read the only item on the agenda, please? Bill No. 2568 A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 21, SECTION 21-9.1, KAUAI COUNTY CODE 1987, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO INTEGRATED SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT (This item was Deferred.) Councilmember Kaneshiro: Do we have any registered speakers? ALLISON S. ARAKAKI, Council Services Assistant I: No. There being no objections, the rules were suspended to take public testimony. PWPR COMMITTEE MEETING 2 JANUARY 22, 2015 Councilmember Kaneshiro: Anybody in the public that would like to speak? No. There being no one present to provide testimony, the meeting was called back to order, and proceeded as follows: Councilmember Kaneshiro: Could I have a motion to defer? Upon motion duly made by Councilmember Kuali`i, seconded by Councilmember Chock, and carried by a vote of 4*:0:1:0 (*Pursuant to Rule No. 5(b) of the Rules of the Council of the County of Kauai, Councilmember Yuhimura was noted as silent (not present), but shall be recorded as an affirmative for the motion; Chair Kagawa was excused), Bill No. 2568 was deferred.
