Pedestrian struck by vehicle, remains in critical condition
HANAMAULU — Police are investigating an apparent hit-and-run crash that occurred
Thursday morning in Hanama`ulu, which resulted in critical injuries.
The victim, a 12-year-old girl, was medevaced to Queen's Hospital where she remains in
critical condition.
Police were called to the scene at approximately 7 a.m. Thursday, after receiving a
report of a child injured along Laukona Street, just south of the Ho`ohana Street junction, in
Hanama`ulu.
According to a preliminary investigation, the child appears to have been walking along
Laukona Street when she was struck by a vehicle. The involved vehicle was not at the scene
when police arrived.
No arrests have been made at this time. However, police continue their investigation of
the crash.
A portion of Laukona Street was closed for approximately three hours on Thursday,
while police conducted an on -scene investigation.
