Lifeguards revive male swimmer at Po`ipu beach
PO`IPO — Lifeguards revived a male swimmer Saturday afternoon after he was found
unresponsive in waters off Po`ipu Beach Park.
At approximately 4:45 p.m. Saturday, lifeguards were notified of an unresponsive male
near the west portion of Po`ipu Beach Park. With assistance from bystanders, lifeguards brought
the man, age 70, to shore and immediately began administering CPR.
Shortly after, the man regained a pulse and the South-West Roving Patrol Unit, who had
arrived on scene, quickly moved him from the beach via backboard.
Lifeguards continued rescue breaths until the man was transferred to medics. He was
transported to Wilcox Hospital for further treatment where he remains in stable condition.
