Ocean Safety officials advising no swimming at Po`ipu Beach
POIPU — Ocean Safety Bureau officials are advising no swimming at Po'ipu Beach
today, due a strong and dangerous rip current as well as high surf.
Lifeguards at Po'ipu Beach are reporting surf heights between 4-8 feet and higher.
A High Advisory remains in effect for all east -facing shores until 6 a.m. Friday, as strong
winds and ocean conditions continue to generate rough surf along east shores, according to the
National Weather Service.
Ocean Safety officials are also urging beachgoers to exercise caution and consult
lifeguards before entering the ocean.
For updated information on weather advisories, visit the National Weather Service
website at www.weathergov/hawaii/hawaii. For a detailed ocean report, please speak to a lifeguard,
visit www.kauaiexplorer.com, or call the Ocean Safety Bureau at 241-4984.
