5 P.M. UPDATE: Kuhio Highway near Hanalei Bridge opens to one lane of
alternating traffic
Kuhio Highway in the vicinity of the Hanalei Bridge is now open to one lane of alternating
traffic. The American Red Cross shelter at Hanalei Elementary School will now close.
A Flash Flood Warning for the island of Kaua'i has expired, and a Flash Flood Watch is
now in effect through late Wednesday night, according to the National Weather Service.
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that leads to flash flooding.
Residents and visitors should monitor the weather and be prepared to take action in the event
that a Flash Flood Warning is issued.
