Two arrested for promotion of illegal drugs
`ELE'ELE — As a result of a month -long investigation, Kauai police arrested a 32-year-
old man and 27-year-old woman, both of 'Ele`ele, after locating illegal drugs in their possession.
On Feb. 28, KPD's Vice Section executed a search warrant on the residence of Kapa
Moke. During the search to arrest, police recovered approximately 53 grams of crystal
methamphetamine, approximately 6 grams of processed marijuana, and two marijuana plants.
While at the residence, a canine screening also alerted police to the suspicion of
narcotics in Moke's vehicle, and in another vehicle parked at the home belonging to Erica
Duarte-Perreira. Police seized both vehicles into evidence.
On March 5, federal search warrants were executed on the vehicles and as a result
police recovered 0.2 grams of methamphetamine and a container with methamphetamine
residue.
During the course of the investigation, police also executed a federal search warrant on
a 40-foot boat located at Nawiliwili Harbor belonging to Moke. The search revealed a large
packet containing residue for methamphetamine and 1.7 grams of processed marijuana.
As a result of this investigation, Duarte-Perreira was arrested for Promoting a Dangerous
Drug in the First Degree, and Promoting a Detrimental Drug in the Third Degree. She was later
Released Pending Investigation.
Moke was arrested on suspicion of Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the First Degree,
Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the Third Degree, and Promoting a Detrimental Drug in the
Third Degree. He was additionally charged for Possession with the Intent to Distribute 50 grams
or more of methamphetamine — a federal charge.
After his arrest, Moke was Released Pending Investigation on the state charges, but was
transported to Oahu to await federal prosecution. He has since been released from federal
custody.
