Relocation of Po`ipu lifeguard tower to begin Tuesday, March 27
PO`IPU — The County will begin the process of relocating the Po`ipu lifeguard tower on
Tuesday, March 27. The tower will be moved approximately 75 yards east of its current location,
and is expected to be completed by Wednesday, March 28.
Work to move the Po`ipu tower will begin at 7 a.m. on both days.
As a safety precaution, officials will be blocking off a portion of the area while work is
being done.
The public will still be able to access the beach during this time, and lifeguard services
will continue as normal.
The relocation of the Po`ipu lifeguard tower is to prepare for the Ocean Safety Bureau's
new Nukumoi lifeguard tower, which is anticipated to be installed in April between Waiohai
Beach and Po`ipu Beach Park. Once that tower is installed, there will be two lifeguard towers
servicing the Po`ipu area.
For more information, the public may call the Ocean Safety Bureau at 241-4984.
