Kaohelaulii Information & Education Specialist Office: (808) 245-5461 Mobile: (808) 755-5432 Email: ikaohelaulii@kauaiwater.org DOW reminds meter applicants of Facilities Reserve Charge meter installation grace period ending Nov. 29, 2018 LIHUE —The Department of Water (DOW) reminds all water meter applicants who have applied and paid for a Facilities Reserve Charge (FRC) prior to the Nov. 29, 2015 enactment of Part 5 of the DOW's Rules & Regulations, of the three year meter installation grace period, ending on Nov. 29, 2018. Applicants who have paid for their FRC prior to the enactment of Part 5 on Nov. 29, 2015 were provided a three year grace period to complete the installation of the water meter. As stated in DOW's Rules and Regulations Part 5 regarding the FRC, prior applicants who have failed to install a water meter on the subject property before the expiration date of the grace period, must pay the difference of the original FRC paid at the time of their application and the FRC in effect at the time the meter is installed. To view DOW's Rules and Regulations regarding the FRC, visit the Department's website at www.kauaiwater.org. The public may also view these documents in person at no cost or printed out for a fee at the DOW office located at 4398 Pua Loke Street in Lihue. Additionally, customers and prior meter applicants are invited to attend an informational presentation to learn more about the FRC grace period at the DOW in Lihue, on Thursday, April 12, 2018 from 5 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Interested attendees requesting an ASL interpreter, materials in an alternate format, or other auxiliary aid support are asked to please call 808-245-5408 or email makuna@kauaiwater.org at least five calendar days before the presentation.
