County hosts Drug Take Back Day
LIHU'E — The Kauai Police Department and Life's Choices Kauai are teaming up to
collect unused or expired prescription medication and other drugs on Drug Take Back Day on
Saturday, April 28, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at KPD headquarters, 3990 Ka'ana St. in
Lihu`e.
Tablets, capsules, and all other solid dosage forms of medication — prescription or
nonprescription — including patches, are accepted. New or used needles and syringes, and
liquid forms are not accepted.
This service is free and anonymous, and no questions will be asked.
The Drug Take Back program is part of a national initiative coordinated by the U.S. Drug
Enforcement Agency (DEA) which focuses on providing a safe, convenient, and responsible
method of disposing medications, while also educating the community about the potential for
abuse and consequences of improper storage and disposal.
For more information on the National Take Back Initiative, please visit the DEA's website
at www.dea.gov, or contact KPD Assistant Chief Bryson Ponce at 241-1681, or Theresa Koki of
Life's Choices at 241-4925.

support to participate, or an interpreter for a language other than English, please call 241-4925
or email tkoki(cDkauaigov before the event.
