Kapa`a man airlifted from Ho'opi'i Falls
KAPAHI — Firefighters responded to a man needing assistance at Ho'opi'i Falls in
Kapahi Thursday afternoon.
Personnel from the Kaiakea fire station were dispatched to Ho'opi'i Falls at
approximately 12:30 p.m., where a 36-year-old Kapa`a man had reportedly fallen out of a tree,
about 35 feet above the stream bank, and onto the rocks below.
Once on scene firefighters found the man with injuries to his leg and arm, lying on the
side of the stream and being attended to by good Samaritans. Personnel secured the patient for
extrication, but were unable to safely wheel him out due to the area's hazardous terrain.
Rescue 3 aboard Air 1 was dispatched to the scene and airlifted the patient to a nearby
landing zone where he was assessed by awaiting medics.
The man was transported to Wilcox Hospital for further treatment.
