Managing Director CELIA MAHIKOA, EXECUTIVE Tel (808) 241-8110 Fax (808) 241-6417 Free electric bus demonstration to run June 20-23 LIHU'E — Starting on Wednesday, June 20, the County of Kaua'i Transportation Agency will be operating two electric bus demonstrations on the Kekaha and Hanalei mainline routes free of charge. "This electric bus demonstration is part of our initiative to create a healthier community, while promoting renewable transportation," said Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. "An electric bus is just one way we will create a better future for our children and reach our clean energy goals." Two 40-feet battery electric busses from different bus manufacturers (Proterra and BYD Motors) will run parallel to the existing Kekaha and Hanalei routes, from Wednesday, June 20, through Saturday, June 23. Kaua'i Bus staff will be present on the busses to ask riders to provide feedback in order for the Transportation Agency to gather data for the potential future use of the busses.
