Kapa'a pool closed today, June 21, due to vandalism
KAPA'A — Due to an overnight break-in and vandalism, the Kapa'a pool will be closed
today, June 21.
"It is unfortunate that anyone would cause damage to a facility used by so many people,"
said Director of Parks and Recreation Lenny Rapozo. "The pool will reopen tomorrow and
resume summer recreation to all swimmers."
Department of Parks and Recreation officials discovered the pool vandalized this
morning — with feces smeared on the bottom of the pool.
The Kauai Police Department has been notified and a report has been filed.
All swim classes have been cancelled and parents have been notified. Additionally, the
afternoon Aqua Zumba class has also been cancelled.
The normal hours of operation for the Kapa'a pool are as follows:
• Tuesday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (open swim),
• Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. (adult swim) and from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (open
swim); and
• Sunday from noon to 4:30 p.m. (open swim).
