Managing Director LYLE TABATA, ACTING COUNTY ENGINEER Tel (808) 241-4996 Fax (808) 241-6604 Household hazardous waste collection set for June 30 and July 1 LIHU`E — County officials announced that household hazardous waste (HHW) will be collected free of charge on Saturday, June 30, and Sunday, July 1. Among the items that will be accepted are automotive products, lawn and garden products, household cleaners, oil -based paints, thinners and stains, fluorescent lights, and more. The collections will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the locations below. The public is advised that the north shore and LThu'e sites are in different locations than prior events. • Anaina Hou Mini Golf and Gardens in Kilauea (where H15 redemption takes place), 5-2723 Kuhi6 Highway, Saturday, June 30; • Kapa`a Public Works Baseyard (across from the Kauai Recycles drop bins), 4900 Kahau Road, Saturday, June 30; • Hanapepe Public Works Baseyard (adjacent to the Hanapepe transfer station), 4380 Le1e Road, Sunday, July 1; and • Kaua'i Resource Center (in front of the LThu'e refuse transfer station), 3460 Ahukini Road, Sunday, July 1. No commercial or farm waste will be accepted. In addition, latex paint will not be accepted as it is not considered household hazardous waste. For instructions on how to dispose of latex paints or how to dispose of HHW items on your own as well as a list of acceptable HHW items, please call the Recycling Office at 241- 4841 or visit the county website, www.kauai.gov/hhw.
