Due to low attendance, FEMA's Registration Intake Centers (RIC) in K61oa and Kapa'a will close, effective Monday, July 9. Representatives from FEMA will be going door-to-door to affected residents islandwide, with outreach in the Wainiha-Haena area next week Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) will be joining them in Waihiha and Haena, and as feasible elsewhere. The following provides an updated schedule. • DRC at Hanalei Elementary School Cafeteria — 5-5415 Kuhi6 Highway, Hanalei o Days: Open daily o Times: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. • RIC at K61oa Elementary School Humanities Room — 3223 Po'ipu Road, K61oa o Days: Closing end of day on Saturday, July 7 o Times: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. • RIC at Kapa'a Elementary School Cafeteria — 4886 Kawaihau Road, Kapa'a o Days: Closing end of day on Sunday, July 8 o Times: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. To view an updated schedule online, visit www.kauai.gov/KEMA. "As of yesterday, approximately $281,000 in Individual Assistance grant funding has been approved by FEMA to qualifying Kauai and Oahu residents," stated Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. "I encourage those who have not yet applied for FEMA assistance, to do so as soon as possible." FEMA reports that 323 Kauai residents have registered for Individual Assistance as of July 5. The maximum grant qualifying residents may receive is $34,000. Currently, the average amount approved for Housing Assistance is $6,932.23. The Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in Hanalei is a readily accessible facility where flood survivors may go to register for FEMA Individual Assistance programs, SBA loan assistance, and other disaster assistance programs. Representatives are stationed at the DRC to answer questions and provide further assistance on low -interest disaster loans for homeowners, renters and businesses. The Individual Assistance Registration Intake Centers (RIC) in Kapa`a and K61oa are facilities where survivors may register for FEMA Individual Assistance programs, and SBA loan assistance. To register for FEMA Individual Assistance or for more information on FEMA programs, residents may also call 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), or visit www.disasterassistance.gov. Applicants should have the following information readily available: • Social Security number; • Address of the damaged primary residence; • Description of the damage; • Insurance information; • A current contact telephone number; • An address where they can receive mail; and • Bank account and routing numbers for direct deposit of funds.
