Ma or Managing Director y COUNTY OF KAUA`I KAUA`I FIRE DEPARTMENT News Release For Immediate Release: July 28, 2018 ROBERT WESTERMAN, CHIEF Tel (808) 241-4980 Fax (808) 241-6508 Firefighters respond to structure fire in Wainiha WAINIHA — Firefighters responded to a structure fire Friday night at the Hanalei Colony Resort in Wainiha. No injuries were reported. Shortly before 8 p.m., personnel from the Hanalei, Kaiakea, Kapa`a and LThu`e fire stations, along with the on duty Battalion Chief, were notified of the structure fire and dispatched to the scene. Upon their arrival, rescuers found a single -story building at the Hanalei Colony Resort fully engulfed in flames. The fire was contained and under control at approximately 9:30 p.m., with no other structures damaged. Fire crews began leaving the scene at approximately 12:30 a.m. Saturday, with some personnel stationed at the scene overnight to monitor and respond to smoldering debris. Firefighters currently remain on scene to mop up and fully extinguish any hot spots. The cause of the fire is under investigation, and the cost of damages has not yet been determined.
