Managing Director KANANI FU, DIRECTOR Tel (808) 241-4444 Fax (808) 241-5118 Housing Agency announces public meeting WAIMEA — The Kauai County Housing Agency in partnership with Kauai Habitat for Humanity and `Ahe Group will host a public meeting to present the draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Waimea Huakai Affordable Housing project situated on the 6.5-acre parcel located behind the West Kauai Technology & Visitor Center. The public meeting will be held on Monday, Aug. 20, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Waimea Neighborhood Center located at 4556 Makeke Road, Waimea. The proposed housing development will consist of two phases. Phase I will consist of 35 units (one, two, and three bedroom) which will be available for rent. Phase II consists of 32 single-family homes (two to four bedrooms) available for purchase. The meeting is being held in order to present the draft EA and receive comments from the public in accordance with Chapter 343, Hawaii Revised Statutes (HRS) and associated Title 11, Chapter 200, Hawaii Administrative Rules (HAR); Environmental Impact Statement Rules, as well as the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) (40 Code of Federal Regulations [CFR] Parts 1500-1508) and 24 CFR Part 58; and Environmental Review Procedures for Entities Assuming HUD Environmental Responsibilities. The draft EA may be viewed online at www.kauaigov/housing/housing or on the Office of Environmental Quality Control website at http://oegc2.doh.hawaii.gov/EA EIS Library/2018-08-08-KA-DEA-Waimea-Huakai.pdf. All interested persons who wish to comment on the draft EA may do so at the public meeting, or may submit written comments to Environmental Risk Analysis, LLC, 905A Makahiki Way, Honolulu, Hawaii 96826, Attn: Russell Okoji or via email at russellokoji(a)-enviroriskhawaii.com. All comments received by Sept. 7, 2018, will be considered.
