Mayor Carvalho to host Wainiha-Ha`ena emergency preparedness meeting
on Tuesday, Aug. 21
Mayor Bernard P. Carvalho Jr. together with various state and county officials will host a
community meeting on Tuesday evening to discuss emergency preparedness in advance of
Hurricane Lane.
Resort.
The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. at the Opakapaka Grill at the Hanalei Colony
"This community continues to be isolated following the April flood, so it's important that
we are preparing for the potential impacts of Hurricane Lane," stated Mayor Carvalho. "While
there is still some uncertainty in the timing and severity of the system, we want to be sure we are
staying in close communication with our isolated residents as it approaches the state."
Representatives from the Kauai Emergency Management Agency, Kauai Police
Department, Kaua'i Fire Department, Department of Public Works, Parks and Recreation, the
state Department of Transportation and the state Department of Land and Natural Resources will
be in attendance.
