Kuhio Highway in the vicinity of the Hanalei Bridge is closed until further notice due to a
Flash Flood Warning for the island of Kaua'i.
As of 12:45 p.m., Kuhio Highway between Waikoko and Wainiha is open at this time.
However, the highway could close with very little notice should weather conditions change.

The state Department of Education announced that Hanalei Elementary School has
closed. Students who were not able to be picked up before the closure of Kuhi6 Highway, in
Wainiha, are safe and sheltering in place at Hanalei Elementary School under staff supervision.
Green waste services at Hanalei and Kapa`a transfer stations are closed today. All other
sites are open at this time, with the exception of the temporary transfer station at Kepuhi Point in
Wainiha, which is closed.

warning may be extended, dropped or modified as conditions develop.
