Ten year prison sentence for Kapa`a meth dealer
LIHU`E — Prosecuting Attorney Justin F. Kollar announced that Henry Dorati, 45, formerly
of Kapa`a, was sentenced to ten years in prison for selling methamphetamine to support his
heroin habit.
Fifth Circuit Chief Judge Randal G.B. Valenciano handed down the sentence in court this
morning. Dorati was convicted of Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the Second Degree, a class B
felony.
KPD Detective Dustin Broad was the lead investigator in the case. His investigation
revealed that Dorati purchased a pound of methamphetamine online and was distributing it on
the east side of Kauai. When police executed a search warrant on Dorati's home, they
recovered numerous used and unused hypodermic needles containing heroin and Dorati
admitted to selling the methamphetamine to support his own heroin habit.
The case was prosecuted by Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Sean Van Demark of the
OPA's career criminal prosecution unit.
Kollar stated, "We are very grateful for KPD's thorough and complete investigation in this
case, which helped us remove an ice dealer from our community. We will not cease in our quest
to rid Kauai of this poison."
