11 a.m., Sept. 11, Update: Tropical Storm Warning issued for Kauai and
Niihau
LIHU'E — The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for
Kaua'i and Ni'ihau, as of 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11. A Tropical Storm Warning is issued when
tropical storm conditions are expected within 36 hours.
The Tropical Storm warning may be extended, dropped or modified as conditions
develop.
There are no shelters open at this time. However, the county will work with the American
Red Cross to open shelters on an as -needed basis and will announce a list of open shelters if or
when they become available.
The Department of Education announces that all schools are open today.
Residents and visitors are urged to make appropriate preparations and to monitor your
local media for updates. Please do not call 911 unless you have an emergency.
