Kauai RSVP hosts collection drive for homebound veterans, caregivers through end of
September
LIHU`E — As part of the September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance, the
Kauai RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program) sponsored by the County of Kauai
Agency on Elderly Affairs, is hosting a collection drive to purchase gift cards for homebound
veterans and their caregivers through the end of September.
The September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance is the culmination of
efforts, originally launched in 2002 that promotes community service on Sept. 11 as an annual
and forward -looking tribute to the Sept. 11 victims, survivors, and those who rose up in service
in response to the attacks.
Sept. 11 was designated a national day of service by Congress in 2009. Kauai RSVP is
a Senior Corps program of the Corporation for National and Community Service. Monetary
contributions and gift cards to local stores and restaurants can be dropped off at the Agency on
Elderly Affairs/Kaua`i RSVP Office located at the Lihu`e Civic Center, Pi`ikoi Building 4444 Rice
Street, Suite #330 between the hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through the end of September.
