Registration now open for third annual Men's Conference
WAILUA — The Kauai Fatherhood Council and the County of Kauai invite men to attend
the third annual Men's Conference on Saturday, Oct. 27, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Smith's
Tropical Paradise in Wailua. To register for the free event, please visit www.eventbrite.com and
search for "Kaua'i Men's Conference."
"During the past few years, this conference has been well -received from our community,
with an overwhelming amount of support from key male leaders," said Mayor Bernard Carvalho
Jr. "We encourage all men in our community to once again attend this year's conference so that
you may continue to grow in values that unite and lead us to become better men and better
fathers."
The conference is free and open to men ages 18 and older, and fathers of any age. The
purpose of the conference is to supply men with a toolkit of knowledge in which to support their
relationships with their family and the community.
"This conference is about men finding out more about themselves and finding better
ways to deal with life," said Fire Chief Robert Westerman who serves as a board member of the
Kauai Fatherhood Council. "This year's keynote speaker is Dr. C. Kimo Alameda, who has
contributed greatly to the mental health community in Hawaii, and we are excited to hear him
and other special guest speakers share their words of wisdom and encouragement with our
attendees."
In addition to Dr. Alameda, there will be guest presentations from PMRF Captain Vincent
"Vinnie" Johnson who will talk about the roles of men, and Dennis Kauahi who will lead a talk
through the native Hawaiian cultural perspective.
The mission of the Kauai Fatherhood Council is to encourage male presence and male
involvement in Kauai's families and the community.
