Managing Director COUNTY OF KAUA'I DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS News Release For Immediate Release: October 23, 2018 LYLE TABATA, ACTING COUNTY ENGINEER Tel (808) 241-4996 Fax (808) 241-6604 Mobile eWaste Recycling available at Hanapepe, Kilauea this weekend The County Recycling Office is reminding the public of a free monthly Mobile eWaste Recycling service for residents and businesses that is taking place this weekend from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hanapepe base yard next to the Hanapepe refuse transfer station and the Anaina Hou Community Park in Kilauea behind the mini golf course. The service at the Hanapepe base yard will be on Saturday, Oct. 27, and the service at Anaina Hou Community Park in Kilauea will be on Sunday, Oct. 28. Acceptable electronic waste includes computers and accessories, televisions, printers, office equipment, audio and video equipment, and handheld devices. Please call Resource Recovery Solutions at 245-6919 if you have a large load so you may be accommodated. Please do not bring household batteries or small appliances to this event. Alkaline, nickel metal, and lithium batteries are accepted from residents only at the Kaua'i Resource Center at 3460 Ahukini Road near the airport from 8 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., Monday through Friday. Appliances that are at least 50 percent metal can be placed in the scrap metal piles at all refuse transfer stations and the landfill. All other non -working small appliances made primarily of plastic should be thrown away with your normal refuse. The public is also reminded that Puhi Metals Recycling Center accepts electronic waste Monday through Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. All brands of eWaste are accepted from residents and businesses free of charge with no quantity limits.
