Police locate body of missing man in Koke`e
KOKE'E — Police have located a body of a male subject in a vehicle on the cliff side in
Koke`e on Friday afternoon.
The body is believed to be that of Mark Pressly, a 65-year-old Kansas man who was
reported missing on Thursday night.
Pressly is a part-time Kauai resident and was last heard from at approximately 6:30 a.m.
on Thursday and was believed to be in the vicinity of the Waimea Canyon lookout at that time.
KPD personnel aboard Air 1 began an aerial search of that area Friday morning and
located the missing man's Chevy van at approximately 11 a.m. suspended on a cliff between
the Waimea Canyon and the Pu`u Hinahina lookouts. The van appeared to have been driven
into a restricted state park area when it veered off the roadway landing approximately 700 feet
below on a ledge.
Kauai police officers, detectives, firefighters and personnel with the state Department of
Land and Natural Resources responded to the scene.
The case remains under police investigation, however, foul play is not suspected at this
time.
