Focused workshops announced for West Kauai
LIHU'E — As part of the West Kauai Community Plan process, a series of 10
workshops, focused on five topics, are scheduled for the Hanapepe-`Ele`ele area, Waimea,
and Kekaha. The first set of workshops are scheduled for Nov. 13 and Nov. 14. The focus will
be on Shared Spaces which include parks, trails, and other gathering places.
"West side residents are the experts when it comes to how and where their
communities can be improved," said Deputy Planning Director Ka`aina Hull. "At the end of the
day, this is their plan."
To facilitate resident participation, all workshops are scheduled in the evenings and
dinner will be provided.
The schedule is as follows:
Shared Spaces Focused Workshops (both workshops have a regional focus)
• Tuesday, Nov. 13
5 to 7 p.m.
Hanapepe Hawaiian Congregation Church
• Wednesday, Nov. 14
5 to 7 p.m.
Kekaha Neighborhood Center
Housina and Infrastructure Focused Workshops
• Tuesday, Dec. 11
5 to 7 p.m.
Kekaha Neighborhood Center
*Focus is on Waimea-Kekaha
• Wednesday, Dec. 12
5 to 7 p.m.
Hanapepe Library
*Focus is on Hanapepe-`Ele`ele area
Workshops on economic development, heritage resources, and transportation are
scheduled for 2019. More information will be announced at a future time.
