Four people arrested after attempting to evade police
KAPA`A — Four people were arrested Friday morning, after attempting to flee from police
then crashing into a utility pole on Kuhi6 Highway in Kapa`a.
No injuries were reported.
At approximately 9 a.m., police were dispatched to Kuhi6 Highway in the vicinity of Inia
Street in Kapa`a, when a bystander reported seeing a possible stolen vehicle on the highway.
Once on scene, police approached the vehicle, a tan 2007 Toyota Corolla, and
instructed the driver to pull over. The vehicle then fled north at a high speed on K0hi6 Highway,
lost control and collided into a utility pole.
The driver of the vehicle, Adrian Arrisgado, age 19 of Kapa`a, was arrested for
Unauthorized Control of a Propelled Vehicle. Additional charges may be pending.
The three occupants of the vehicle were also taken into police custody for Unauthorized
Control of a Propelled Vehicle, and have been released pending further investigation.
Kuhi6 Highway, between Inia Street and Kauwila Street, was closed in both directions
for nearly five hours while police conducted an on -scene investigation and personnel from
Kauai Island Utility Cooperative completed repairs to the utility pole. Traffic was diverted onto
Inia Street, Kauwila Street, and Ulu Street during the closure.
The investigation remains ongoing.
