Construction to begin for Salt Pond Beach Park effluent system Jan. 7; one
lane road closure scheduled along portions of Lokokai and Lele roads
HANAPEPE — County officials are announcing that construction for the Salt Pond Beach
Park effluent system project will begin on Jan. 7 and is scheduled to be completed by August
2019, weather pending.
Contracted by Earthworks Pacific Inc., the $1.19 million project will transfer effluent from
current leachate fields in the park to be treated at the County's sewer wastewater treatment
facility in `Ele`ele.
Sewer work construction will require one lane road closures along portions of Lokokai
and Lele Roads, Monday to Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Construction work will not affect
the majority of parking at the park.
Motorists are advised to use extreme caution through the area, observe all traffic
controls and posted signs, and stay alert for construction personnel and equipment. Please
allow extra time when traveling through this area. Anyone with questions may call Earthworks
Pacific Inc. at 246-8808 or Donald Fujimoto with the County of Kauai at 241-4882.
