Mayor Kawakami, County Council sworn into office on Monday
LIHU`E — Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami and members of the 2018-2020 Kauai County
Council were sworn into office by Judge Randal G. B. Valenciano at the Kauai War Memorial
Convention Hall on Monday.
"I am so grateful, incredibly honored, and truly humbled by the overwhelming amount of
love and support from my family, my campaign team, my friends, loved ones, and most
especially, our Kauai community," said Mayor Kawakami in front of a crowd of over 450 people.
"I believe that as a community, we are all seeking the same goal. One way or another, we all
want a better island, and a better quality of life for all."
The members of the 2018-2020 Kauai County Council include: Council Chair Arryl
Kaneshiro, Council Vice Chair Ross Kagawa, Arthur Brun, Mason K. Chock, Felicia Cowden,
Luke A. Evslin, and KipuKai Kuali`i.
The Inauguration Ceremony and County Council Meeting will air on Ho`ike, channel 53,
the day after the event, for two weeks.
The events will also be available for viewing on the county website, www.kauai.gov,
starting Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 4.
