Blessing held for Koloa Well 16 A and 16 B Site and Building Improvements Project
KOLOA — The Department of Water (DOW) held a blessing ceremony on Oct. 18, to commence the Koloa
Well 16 A and 16 B Site and Building Improvements Project in Koloa.
"This project will provide significant improvements to the Koloa Well 16 site that support the current and
future developments, such as the affordable housing projects being planned in the area," said Dustin
Moises, DOW's chief of construction management. "I would like to thank our DOW staff, contractor
Unlimited Construction, Inc. and subcontractors for working diligently together and for their efforts
towards this project. We aim to continue the progress of improvement and construction projects to
strengthen our water systems, island wide."
The Koloa Well 16 A & 16 B Site and Building Improvements Project is part of the DOW's Water Plan 2020,
a comprehensive long-range plan that addresses the need to upgrade aging infrastructures on Kauai.
Work will be located within the existing well site and includes new installation of a well pump, discharge
piping and a disinfection system. The project will also include new construction of a motor control center
and control building in addition to various site improvements to address aging infrastructure issues.
The construction contract was awarded to Unlimited Construction, Inc. in the amount of $3,576,241.
The subcontractors involved in this project include Koga Engineering & Construction, Inc., Dorvein D Leis
Company, Inc., Grace Pacific LLC, Wasa Electrical Services, Inc., Pacific Concrete Cutting & Coring, Inc.,
Alii Landscaping and Maintenance, Coating Works Hawaii, Inc., Pural Water Specialty Company, Inc.,
Simmons Steel Corporation, Beachside Roofing LLC, Mahelona Sheet Metal Fabrication LLC, Derrick's Well
Drilling & Pump Services, Inc., Esaki Surveying and Mapping, Inc., Hirata & Associates, Inc. and ENPRO
Environmental. Rev. Jade Waialeale-Battad of Ke Akua Mana Church officiated the blessing over the
project site.
