A participant attending the workshop at Kekaha Senior Center wrote the
following:
"Aloha to the developers ,
"Thank you for a well organize thought out 6 sessions you have provided me
and the seniors. Kealoha and Debbie from Agency on Elderly Affairs did a
fantastic job on every session. I believe with what you have taught me is that
if every week, I can keep track of my action plan , I will be healthier and
more energize to give back to my family and community . I just had blood
work done and all my results when down and better overall. I recommend this
workshop to all the centers and other groups out there . The two hours
session was very informative and not boring. Good job developers."
• Falls Prevention
In partnership with American Medical Response team and the Kauai Fire
Department , AEA's Assoc iates schedules home visits, which entails Firefighters
assessing and mitigating fall prevention. Firefighters may install grip guards and
hand-bars, provide shower chairs , and install fire alarms. American Medical
Response team provides wellness check and lists baseline vital statistics ,
medications and any pertinent medical information in a booklet left with the elder
at the end of the visit. In the event of an emergency, this information is readily
available for a medical response team.
Since the beginning of the program in April 2016 to March 4, 2020, we served
569 elders and assessed 464 homes.
Fall prevention feedback:
"We were both so impressed, and grateful for the fall prevention visit. Thank you
for the follow up phone call, and since your visit in November we have not had
any falls. I do really appreciate your interest in us, and think your overall program
is wonderful -I recommended it to several friends. Thank you for your good
work. Aloha ."
