Construction work for Weke Road to begin this week
The Department of Public Works is announcing that construction work for a portion of
Weke Road that was damaged by the April flood will begin this week.
The project's contractor Earthworks Pacific, Inc., will begin construction by hauling heavy
equipment and materials in the project area, which may lead to traffic delays.
To accommodate the public, parking will be allowed from the Weke Road-Pilikoa Street
intersection to a restricted access sign, along the makai portion of Weke Road. Access beyond
the restricted access sign is limited to the residents along the affected section of Weke Road
and authorized construction personnel.
Pedestrians are encouraged to use the lateral access along the beach to reach the
Hanalei Pier area. Motorists should drive with extreme caution, expect delays, and adjust their
travel times as needed.
Construction work is scheduled to be complete by May 2019, weather permitting.
For more information, you may call Earthworks Pacific, Inc. at 808-256-4591.
