DAHILIG, MANAGING DIRECTOR OF News Release For Immediate Release: January 18, 2019 DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS LYLE TABATA, DEPUTY COUNTY ENGINEER Tel (808) 241-4992 Fax (808) 241-6604 Household hazardous waste collection set for Jan. 26 and 27 County officials are announcing that residentially -generated household hazardous waste (HHW) will be accepted free of charge on Jan. 26 and 27. Among the items that will be accepted are automotive products, lead -acid batteries, lawn and garden products, oil -based paints, thinners and stains, fluorescent lights, batteries, and more. The collection will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the following locations: • Anaina Hou Community Park (Kilauea Mini -Golf), 5-2723 Kuhio Highway, Saturday, Jan. 0. • Kapa`a baseyard, 4900 Kahau Road, Saturday, Jan. 26 • Hanapepe refuse transfer station, 4380 Lele Road, Sunday, Jan. 27 • Kaua`i Resource Center, 3460 Ahukini Road, Sunday, Jan. 27 waste. In addition, latex paint will not be accepted, as it is not considered household hazardous For instructions on how to dispose of latex paints or how to dispose of HHW items on your own as well as a list of acceptable HHW items, please visit the county website at, www.kauai.gov/hhw. Please note, monthly mobile eWaste service in Hanapepe and Kilauea will continue as normal with service at the Hanapepe baseyard on Saturday, Jan. 26, and Anaina Hou Community Park on Sunday, Jan. 27. Please do not bring household hazardous waste to these events or eWaste to the HHW drop sites.
