BLANE, CHIEF OF STAFF Tel (808) 241-4900 Fax (808) 241-6877 Committee on Status of Women presents "Let's Talk" for Women's History Month on March 6 LTHUE — The Committee on the Status of Women for Women's History Month invites the public to experience a free heart-to-heart talk with featured speakers and honorees Renae Hamilton-Cambeilh and Gina Kaulukukui on March 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Kaua'i War Memorial Convention Hall in LThu'e. This free event offers an opportunity to meet these extraordinary women and provides a platform to provoke conversation and raise awareness. Members of the Committee on the Status of Women selected Ms. Hamilton-Cambeilh and Ms. Kaulukukui for their public service, dedication, and leadership in the community. These women are the essence of this year's theme "Visionary Women: Champions of Peace and Non - Violence" and have influenced public policy, community organization, and worked tirelessly to make Kaua'i a better place to live. Ms. Hamilton-Cambeilh has been with the YWCA of Kaua'i for the past 21 years in various roles such as a crisis counselor, prevention educator, sexual assault treatment program director, and for the past 10 years, as the executive director, working to provide domestic violence and sex assault prevention resources, response, and treatment services for the island community. Ms. Kaulukukui is the domestic violence interventions coordinator for the Kauai Police Department. She is a certified grief counselor, co-founder and executive director of Life's Bridges Hawaii Inc., dedicated to providing immediate support to anyone following a sudden and traumatic death. Ms. Kaulukukui was also instrumental in the development of the Prevent Suicide Kauai Task Force and KLAS (Kaua`i Leaders Against Suicide) Youth Suicide Prevention Program. The Committee on the Status of Women is part of the County of Kauai Office of Boards and Commissions, and the Hawaii State Commission on the Status of Women, which develops and promotes education, interactive opportunities on issues relating to women and girls, prevention of all forms of violence against women and girls, and encourages health and wellness awareness.
