Storage shed at Hanapepe stadium destroyed by fire
HANAPEPE — Firefighters extinguished a storage shed that caught fire Monday night at
Hanapepe stadium.
No injuries were reported.
Shortly after 8 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to a report of a structure on fire at
Hanapepe stadium. Once on scene, responders found two collapsed shipping containers with a
connecting roof fully engulfed in flames.
Firefighters from the Hanapepe, Kalaheo, and Lihu`e fire stations, along with the on -duty
Battalion Chief, quickly established a water supply and formed attack lines to knock down the
blaze. The fire was brought under control, and personnel continued suppression activities until
the fire was fully extinguished.
The scene was cleared at approximately 1:15 a.m. Tuesday.
Fire inspectors estimate the damage to the storage shed and its contents to be roughly
$175,000.
The cause of the fire is being investigated. Anyone with information is urged to call
Police Dispatch at 241-1711. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers
