KOLLAR, PROSECUTING ATTORNEY Tel (808) 241-1888 Fax (808) 241-1758 Man sentenced to ten year prison term for 2018 robbery LTHUE — Jovi Enrique, age 30, formerly of Anahola, was sentenced to serve ten years in prison for stealing a Honda Pilot from King Auto Center after a test drive in January 2018. Fifth Circuit Chief Judge Randal G.B. Valenciano handed down the sentence on March 12, 2019. A police investigation revealed that on January 16, 2018, Enrique took a brand new Honda Pilot for a test drive with an employee of King Auto Center in LThu`e. Afterward, Enrique drove straight towards the employee who jumped onto the hood of the vehicle. Enrique swerved and jerked the car as he drove off the lot, throwing the employee into the road and damaging the vehicle in the process. Enrique was subsequently located, arrested, and charged. He pleaded no contest to Robbery in the Second Degree, a class B felony. In exchange for the plea, several lesser charges were dismissed. He will also be required to pay restitution to be determined at a hearing on March 28 in front of Judge Valenciano. The case was prosecuted by Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Ramsey Ross, who is also the State of Hawai`i's Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutor. The case was investigated by KPD Detective Michael Nii. Prosecuting Attorney Justin F. Kollar stated, "This was a very dangerous act, one that could have very easily resulted in serious injury or worse. We are satisfied that the Judge handed down the maximum sentence. We will continue to work closely with our partners a Kauai Police Department to ensure that our community and roadways remain safe places for our residents and visitors." Jovi Enrique, age 30
