DAHILIG, MANAGING DIRECTOR 0 News Release For Immediate Release: March 16, 2019 KAUA`1 FIRE DEPARTMENT KILIPAKI VAUGHAN, DEPUTY CHIEF Tel (808) 241-4980 Fax (808) 241-6508 High Surf Warning for north- and west -facing shores through Monday The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a High Surf Warning for all north- and west -facing shores of Kauai and Niihau, in effect from tonight until 6 p.m. Monday. Entering the water in these areas during the High Surf Warning is very hazardous and could cause serious injury or death. Spectators are also advised to use extreme caution, as large breaking waves could make it dangerous for those standing along the shoreline. As a reminder, Ocean Safety officials are advising no swimming at all north and west shore beaches, from Kekaha to Anahola, on Sunday. All beachgoers are advised to heed posted warnings and advisories. The High Surf Warning may be extended or modified as conditions develop.
