Construction complete for Salt Pond Beach Park effluent system, comfort
station
HANAPEPE — County officials are announcing that construction of the Salt Pond Beach
Park effluent system for the main pavilion as well the west comfort station have been completed
ahead of schedule.
"I want to thank our teams with the Department of Public Works and the Department of
Parks and Recreation for their work to bring these comfort stations in working order almost two
months ahead of schedule," said Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami. "With construction for the effluent
system complete, both the main pavilion and west comfort station are now available to
beachgoers."
Contracted by Earthworks Pacific Inc., the $1.19 million project conveys wastewater from
the main pavilion and west comfort station to the County's sewage collection system to be treated
at the County's 'Ele'ele wastewater treatment plant.
