Kollar announced the filing of a civil nuisance abatement action to shut down an alleged Kalaheo drug house. The action alleges that the premises located at 3767 Waha Road and occupied by Rose K. Dahle, Darrick C. Banasihan, Robyn Dahle, and others, have a history of being associated with drug -dealing type activities and constitutes a nuisance. The action seeks an order permanently prohibiting the persons causing the nuisance from entering into the premises. The action, brought by the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney's Drug Nuisance Abatement Unit, is the first of its type filed on Kauai pursuant to the nuisance abatement provisions of Hawaii Revised Statutes Sections 712-1270 through 712-1280. A copy of the filed complaint is attached. "For too long the drug houses in our community have posed a blight in our neighborhoods," stated Kollar. "We need to use all the tools at our disposal in order to address this important quality -of -life issue." Since its creation, the Drug Nuisance Abatement Unit has successfully closed down and disrupted more than 20 drug houses on Kauai.
