Kealia Beach closed to swimming due to whale carcass washed ashore
KEALIA — Ocean Safety officials have closed Kealia Beach to swimming until further
notice due to a whale carcass that washed ashore Saturday morning.
Officials are advising no swimming as a safety precaution. Signs have been posted, and
lifeguards are monitoring the area and warning beachgoers on site to stay out of the water.
State DLNR officials are currently on site responding to the whale carcass.
The beach will remain closed until at least Sunday morning when lifeguards will
reassess if it can be reopened.
