Woman rescued at Ke`e Beach
HA`ENA — Lifeguards rescued a 56-year-old Princeville woman from waters off Ke`e
Beach, in H5'ena, Tuesday afternoon.
Shortly before 4 p.m., a man reported to K&6 lifeguards that he lost sight of his wife who
was in the water snorkeling. Lifeguards spotted the woman about 400 meters from shore, and
immediately paddled out to her location. The woman was found face down in the water, wearing
a full -face snorkel mask and appeared unresponsive.
Lifeguards brought the woman back to shore, where they began rescue breathing
techniques and administered oxygen until she regained consciousness.
AMR medics arrived on scene and provided additional support, then transported the
woman to Wilcox Hospital for further treatment.
The public is reminded that the H5'ena State Park currently remains closed. Additionally,
access into the Lumaha`i-Wainiha-Ha`ena area remains restricted to area residents only,
permitted TVR guests, government employees, and verified contractors and organizations
conducting work in the recovery area.
