Lane closures scheduled for Hardy, Umi streets on June 20 and 21
LIHUE — The Department of Public Works is announcing lane closures on Hardy and
Umi streets starting June 20 and ending the following day to allow Maui Kupono Builders to
conduct road construction work in the area from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., weather permitting.
On June 20, there will be one-way traffic on Hardy Street from Kuhio Highway to `Eiwa
Street. Motorists will be allowed to enter Hardy Street via Kuhio Highway. Additionally, motorists
may only make a left turn onto Hardy Street via Akahi Street.
On June 21, the roundabout on Hardy Street will be closed for reconstruction.
Temporary "ROAD CLOSED" signs will be installed on Umi and Hardy streets to remind
motorists of the road closures. Only local residents and motorists visiting businesses along
Hardy Street and Umi streets will be allowed to enter the work zone. Flaggers will be positioned
to assist motorists during these closures.
Please make the appropriate arrangements to accommodate the necessary road
closures, use alternate routes, and allow for extra time to get to destinations.
