Acting Mayor signs ninth supplementary emergency proclamation
LIHUE — Acting Mayor Michael A. Dahilig has signed a ninth supplementary emergency
proclamation on Thursday, June 27, for the County of Kauai, extending the emergency relief
period for damages sustained during the April 2018 flood.
The Mayor's ninth supplementary emergency proclamation further declares the
provisions of all previous emergency proclamations. The disaster emergency relief period shall
now continue until terminated 60 days after June 27, 2019, or by a separate proclamation —
whichever comes first.
Due to the reopening of Kuhio Highway to all vehicles on June 17, 2019, the Mayor's
Emergency Rule #1 regarding restricted access to the Lumaha`i, Wainiha, and H5'ena area, has
since been rescinded.
"Thank you to all involved in the highly anticipated reopening of Kuhio Highway last
week," said Acting Mayor Dahilig. "While this was an important step forward, work remains
ongoing for the repairs of Weke Road and Black Pot Beach Park in Hanalei. Our road to
recovery continues, and through this ninth supplementary emergency proclamation, our officials
can efficiently manage all remaining work needed for the health, safety and welfare of our
community."
In addition, Emergency Rule #2 relating to commercial boating operations in Hanalei is
extended to August 26, 2019.
A copy of this rule, along with the ninth supplementary emergency proclamation and
previous emergency proclamations are available by visiting the County of Kaua`i's online "April
2018 Flood Recovery" page at, www.kauai.gov.
