RAYBUCK, CHIEF Tel (808) 241-1600 Fax (808) 241-1604 Traffic modifications for Hawaiian Canoe Racing Association State Championship Regatta on Aug. 3 HANALEI — The Kauai Outrigger Association will be hosting the annual Hawaiian Canoe Racing Association (HCRA) State Championship Regatta this Saturday, Aug. 3, from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Hanalei Bay. To accommodate the event and mitigate traffic impacts to the surrounding area, the Kauai Police Department will be implementing a change in traffic patterns on Saturday, from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m., or until as needed. Traffic modifications are as follows: • Traffic will be one-way only on Aku Road, from the Papio Road junction heading makai toward Welke Road. • Welke Road will be one-way westbound, from Aku Road to Malolo Road. • Malolo Road will be one one-way mauka bound, from Welke Road toward Kuhio Highway. • Eastbound traffic at the Welke and Aku road junction will be limited to local traffic, vendors and officials with placards, ADA parking, and shuttle busses. • Mahimahi Road, from Welke Road to Kuhio Highway will be closed. Local residents and TVR guests will be allowed through road closures but should be prepared to show identification or proof of residency or reservation. Parking for this event will available at the parking lots at the end of He`e Road, Ama`ama Road, Anae Road, and Waioli Soccer Field. Motorists should allow additional time to get to their destinations as traffic delays are expected.
