Mayor Kawakami invites the public to support the Global Climate Strike
LTHUE — In support of the Global Climate Strike movement, Mayor Derek S. K.
Kawakami will be welcoming students from the Kauai Community College and other
stakeholders to the LThu`e Civic Center Rotunda on Friday, Sept. 20, at 3:30 p.m.
The public is invited to attend the gathering where a Climate Action Pledge will be
presented on behalf of Mayor Kawakami, members of the Kauai County Council, and the
County of Kauai.
"Climate change is a serious issue and we see the effects on our island and throughout
the world," said Mayor Kawakami. "While we are doing our best to seek solutions to these
ongoing challenges, we encourage our entire community to take part in these initiatives that will
strengthen our island's resiliency and build a better future for us all."
