Acting Mayor signs eleventh supplementary emergency proclamation
LIHU`E — Acting Mayor and Director of Finance Reiko Matsuyama has signed an
eleventh supplementary emergency proclamation on Friday, October 25, for the County of
Kauai, extending the emergency relief period for damages sustained during the April 2018
flood.
The eleventh supplementary emergency proclamation further declares the provisions of
all previous emergency proclamations. The disaster emergency relief period shall now continue
until terminated 60 days after October 25, 2019, or by a separate proclamation — whichever
comes first.
The purpose of the emergency proclamation is to provide continued relief for disaster
damages, losses, and suffering, and to protect the health, safety, and welfare of Kauai
residents and visitors.

economic inclusion and capital matters, hosted by the Samuel DuBois Cook Center on Social
Equity at Duke University and sponsored by JPMorgan Chase & Co. The three-day conference y
explores the racial and gender disparities in self-employment and business, and how inequities
of investment can affect health, education and economic mobility within our communities. Mayor
Kawakami was invited to participate on a panel discussion on Thursday with fellow mayors from
across the nation on Public/Private Partnerships and will return to Kauai on Saturday, Oct. 26.
