Kauai Police Chief offers Halloween safety tips
LIHU`E — Kaua`i Police Chief Todd Raybuck is offering families a few simple tips to help
keep their children safe this Halloween.
"Halloween is a special time for families and the community, but it's always best to
remain vigilant, keeping safety as your top priority while celebrating," said Chief Raybuck. "Keiki
should always be supervised, especially while trick -or -treating, and all candy should be
inspected before it's consumed."
The Kauai Police Department is offering the following Halloween safety tips:
Trick -or -treat in well -lit areas in a familiar neighborhood.
• Keep a flashlight or glow stick handy.
• Children should be accompanied by an adult while trick -or -treating.
• Children should know their address, phone number, and how to dial 911 in an
emergency. Young children should have this information attached to their
costume, in the event they get separated or lost.
Inspect all candy before consumption. Dispose of any candy that is not in its
original packaging or shows signs of tampering. When in doubt, throw it out!
• Don't hesitate to report suspicious activity to police.
"While we are fortunate to live in a safe community, we never want to take that for
granted," added Chief Raybuck. "On behalf of the Kauai Police Department, we wish our
community a safe and happy Halloween!"
