Asbestos disposal at Kekaha Landfill suspended through March 2020
KEKAHA — The Department of Public Works is announcing that asbestos disposal at the
Kekaha Landfill is suspended through March 2020 due to construction at the facility.
"Contractors are urged to either delay production of asbestos containing waste, make
accommodations to temporarily store the waste, or seek out other appropriate options until such
time that the County of Kaua'i issues an announcement to resume asbestos disposal operations
at the landfill," said Deputy County Engineer Lyle Tabata.
Contractors may also dispose of asbestos with PVT Land Company. Asbestos disposal
information can be viewed at the company's website at:
http://www.pvtland.com/landfill/asbestos.
