This two-year project worked closely with community members and asset managers to assess West Kaua`i's vulnerability to climate change -related hazards such as sea -level rise, and explore and identify potential solutions. A final presentation of findings from the project report will be followed by a potluck dinner and talk story with exhibits which is open to the public. County Planning staff will also be on hand to talk about the links to the West Kauai Community Plan. Several posters/exhibits will be set up to further explore how West Kauai is vulnerable to sea -level rise, to encourage questions, and to discuss how the report can be used to further community resiliency in West Kauai. "Through this process, we were able to draw on deep community knowledge about what is already vulnerable to hazards, as well as areas of community strength that will help West Kauai adapt," said Ruby Pap of Hawaii Sea Grant "While there is much to be done to prepare for climate change, I feel heartened by the dedication of so many who committed their time to this process." "The CVA has provided valuable information for the ongoing West Kauai Community Plan," said Planning Director Ka'aina Hull. "We appreciate the hard work of the project team and community in developing recommendations to improve West Kauai's resiliency to climate change."
